Intro: Rom.8:28 – Paul suggests this order: predestined, called, justified, glorified
I. Definition
    A. Effective calling – An act of God whereby He summons some to Himself through the Word in such a way that they will respond in saving faith.
        1 Pet.2:9 – 9  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 
        1 Cor.1:9 – 9  God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 
        Acts 2:39 – 39  The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 
        Rom.1:6 – 6  And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. 
        Through the preaching of the Word – 2 Thess. 2:14
